In 2011, Carol Schram’s husband, Glenn was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 46. Since that time she has been active in the PD community as a facilitator for the Michigan Parkinson Foundation’s Rochester support group, instructor for the support group’s Adaptive Exercise Class, and presented at MPF facilitator meetings, area support groups, and symposiums.

Carol is a Certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach and Senior Exercise Specialist. She was the first Rock Steady Boxing Coach certified in southeastern Michigan in 2015, certified in Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery(PWR! Moves) in 2018, and certified in Balance Matters and Parkinson’s Art of Expression this past year. She’s also a Level 1 Essentrics Instructor and Strong Nation Coach.

Other Parkinson’s outreach efforts include helping Team Fox Detroit at the annual gala in 2020, and presenting at several of Take Root’s Exercise Potpourri events at Oakland University.

Carol works for QUEST Research Institute in outreach/advocacy and was commended for her efforts in 2021 by the Global Alliance Network in Alzheimer’s Research.

She’s also a mother of 4 children, a grandmother, and has 2 dogs and a cat
